Technology giant broadens OMEN gaming portfolio with higher-performance processors, faster displays and more affordable configurations as competition intensifies in the premium gaming PC market

HP has expanded its latest 15-inch gaming laptop lineup with new processor configurations designed to offer gamers a wider choice of performance and pricing options, reflecting the increasingly competitive nature of the global gaming computer market.

According to technology journalist Alex Alderson, writing on technology publication Notebookcheck, the updated models introduce Intel’s latest high-performance Core Ultra 9 processors alongside additional AMD-powered configurations aimed at making the product range more accessible to a broader segment of gaming enthusiasts.

The latest refresh introduces options powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX and Core Ultra 9 290HX processors, complementing previously available Intel and AMD variants. The report notes that the new processors are expected to deliver significantly stronger computing performance, particularly for processor-intensive gaming workloads and other demanding applications.

Alongside the processor upgrades, HP is offering customers a choice between two display configurations. The standard model features a 15.3-inch IPS display with 1200p resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate and 400 nits peak brightness.

Users seeking higher display performance can opt for a premium 1600p IPS panel offering a 180Hz variable refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness. The laptops can also be configured with up to 32GB of DDR5 memory and 1TB PCIe Gen 5 storage, enabling users to tailor systems to different gaming and productivity requirements.

According to the report, HP has also broadened pricing options. AMD-powered configurations now begin at approximately US$1,699, while Intel-based models start at around US$1,999. A fully configured premium model is priced at US$3,329.

All configurations are reported to ship with a 70Wh four-cell battery. The expanded product portfolio reflects HP’s strategy of addressing multiple customer segments within the rapidly evolving gaming laptop market by offering a wider range of performance specifications without significantly altering the overall product design.

BrandiQ Analysis

Gaming laptops are Becoming AI performance machines HP’s latest product expansion illustrates a broader shift taking place within the personal computing industry.

Gaming laptops are no longer designed exclusively for entertainment. Increasingly, manufacturers are positioning them as high-performance computing platforms capable of supporting artificial intelligence applications, advanced content creation, software development, engineering simulations and other processor-intensive workloads.

The distinction between gaming computers and professional workstations is gradually becoming less pronounced.

Competition Is Moving Beyond Graphics

For many years, gaming laptops were primarily differentiated by graphics processing units (GPUs). Today, competition increasingly centres on the overall computing ecosystem, including processors, display technology, memory bandwidth, storage speed, thermal management and AI capabilities.

The introduction of newer Intel Core Ultra processors reflects the industry’s growing emphasis on balancing gaming performance with productivity and AI-enhanced computing.

More Consumer Choice Is Driving Market Growth

Another notable aspect of HP’s strategy is the expansion of pricing options. Rather than focusing exclusively on premium buyers, manufacturers are increasingly introducing multiple configurations that allow consumers to choose systems aligned with their performance needs and budgets.

This tiered approach broadens market accessibility while enabling companies to compete more effectively across different price segments. For consumers, greater configuration flexibility means improved value and more personalised purchasing decisions.

Why This Matters Beyond Gaming

The significance of announcements such as this extends beyond gaming enthusiasts. High-performance laptops increasingly serve entrepreneurs, software developers, architects, video editors, engineers, artificial intelligence researchers and digital content creators.

As digital economies continue to expand, demand for computing devices capable of handling complex workloads is expected to grow alongside gaming itself. Manufacturers are therefore competing not only for gamers but also for the wider creator economy.

The Bigger Picture

HP’s expanded gaming portfolio reflects the continuing evolution of the global PC industry. Consumer expectations are shifting from purchasing computers for single-purpose activities to investing in versatile performance platforms capable of supporting gaming, professional productivity and AI-driven applications within a single device.

For technology companies, the challenge is no longer simply producing faster hardware. It is creating intelligent computing ecosystems that combine processing power, graphics performance, display quality and AI readiness in ways that meet the changing needs of modern digital lifestyles.

Editorial Note: Since the technical specifications originate from reporting by Alex Alderson of Notebookcheck, BrandiQ appropriately attributes those product details while providing its own independent business and technology analysis. This approach aligns with professional publishing standards and protects editorial credibility.
