The World Bank Group projects that optimised water management in agriculture could generate up to 245 million jobs globally by 2050, with sub-Saharan Africa as a major beneficiary.

The Core Challenge

Current systems are inefficient:

  • Overuse in some regions
  • Underutilisation in others
  • Global food systems unable to sustainably feed future populations

The Opportunity

A smarter system could:

  • Increase food production
  • Strengthen climate resilience
  • Drive large-scale employment

Investment Gap

  • Required: $24bn–$70bn annually
  • Current agricultural subsidies: $490bn annually

Redirecting even a fraction could accelerate transformation.BrandiQ Take:
Water is emerging as the new infrastructure of food security – and Africa sits at the centre
