Guinness brought the city of Owerri to life recently, as football fans trooped to the Landmark Event Centre for an edition of the Guinness Epic Match Day football viewing experience.

The event, which was the first of its kind in Owerri, and held on November 30, 2025, transformed the usually quiet Concorde Road into a vibrant gathering point for football lovers of all ages, as Guinness Stout delivered a premium and fun-filled viewing experience for the highly anticipated Chelsea versus Arsenal Premier League clash.

A statement from the firm stated that a lively mix of young people, eventgoers, and passionate football fans filled the venue, immersing themselves in an energetic atmosphere defined by ice-cold Guinness, large-screen match viewing, good music, delicious refreshments, and a range of engaging activities.

The ambience inside the hall kept fans engrossed long before kick-off, while live DJ sets and an energetic hype crew heightened excitement throughout the evening, turning the match viewing into a full entertainment experience.

One of the major highlights of the event was the Predict & Win segment, where guests competed for exciting prizes, further adding to the thrill of the evening.

Many attendees expressed satisfaction with the experience. Tessy Nwafor, a first-time guest, described the event as “a well-spent evening,” while another football fan, Chika Onuoha, praised Guinness for “delivering the excellence the brand is known for.”

Also present at the event was the online sensation, Fans Tribe HQ, an anticipated football banter platform that delighted many of its Owerri followers with real-time banter and match analysis during the game. An Owerri resident, Marcel Okorie, said the event “made for a perfect Sunday outing” and expressed the hope that Guinness would repeat the experience in the city.

Speaking on the success of the Owerri edition, the Category Lead and Senior Brand Manager, Guinness Trademark, Ife Odedere, said the initiative reinforces the brand’s commitment to elevating football viewing culture in Nigeria.

“Guinness Match Day is designed to give fans an epic viewing experience beyond just football. It’s our way of celebrating Nigerians’ passion for the game with ice-cold Guinness, music, entertainment, and unforgettable energy,” he said.

With positive vibes, lively banter, good music, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, the Owerri edition of the Guinness Epic Match Day concluded on a high note, leaving football fans eager for the next Guinness Match Day experience.
