Intercontinental Distillers Limited’s brands, Eagle Aromatic Schnapps and Squadron Dark Rum, have empowered artisans and technicians with essential tools and equipment to strengthen their craft and promote sustainable practices during the Lagos Edition of the 2025 Nigerian Artisans and Technicians Conference.

The three-day conference, themed ‘Artisan Innovation: Driving Sustainable Practices & Green Technology’, gathered artisans from various sectors, including fashion, catering, construction, electrical works, and mechanical services.

According to a statement, the organisers designed the event to feature workshops, demonstrations, and panel sessions that focused on modern skills and environmentally friendly production techniques.

To drive the empowerment initiative, the sponsors distributed items such as tailoring machines, toolboxes, industrial mixers, and energy-efficient cake ovens to participants.

Organisers emphasised that the equipment would help artisans “adopt more efficient and greener methods in their businesses.”

Beyond the equipment donation, Squadron Dark Rum made a notable impact at the event as caterers utilised the brand for baking and grilling demonstrations.

Facilitators explained that the rum “enhanced flavour profiles while showcasing creative, eco-conscious culinary techniques aligned with the event’s innovation-driven theme.”

Assistant Brand Manager at Intercontinental Distillers Limited, Murtala Abdullah, stated that the company’s involvement “reflects its ongoing commitment to the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s artisan community.”

Abdullah highlighted the importance of supporting innovation, skills development, and greener practices among artisans nationwide.

Also speaking at the event, convener of the conference, Dr Dayo Bello, noted that the organisers designed the initiative to “improve the skills and economic power of artisans while preparing them for a future that demands sustainable and technologically advanced craftsmanship.”

Bello added that the inclusion of green technology in artisan training remains vital for building a resilient workforce.

Beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to both Eagle Aromatic Schnapps and Squadron Dark Rum. They described the empowerment as timely and transformative.

Many recipients stated that the tools and exposure gained from the conference “would enable them to expand their businesses, increase income and adopt more sustainable methods in their daily operations.”
