Standard Chartered Bank (Nigeria) Limited, for the third consecutive year, participated as a Gold Sponsor of the annual WIMBIZ (Women in Management, Business, and Public Service) conference, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality, leadership development, and economic empowerment for women across Nigeria.

Now in its 24th year, the WIMBIZ Annual Conference is one of Africa’s largest gatherings of professional and entrepreneurial women, convening thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers to share insights, inspire action, and shape conversations on leadership, inclusion, and nation-building.

As a Gold Sponsor of this year’s event, themed “Own. Walk. Nurture,” Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria continues to champion initiatives that support women’s participation and representation in business, finance, and public life, the bank stated in a statement on Wednesday.

“The partnership underscores the bank’s commitment to driving inclusive growth and unlocking opportunities for women to thrive across sectors,” it stated.

Representing the bank at the conference, Executive Director, Compliance, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, Olusiji Adeyinka, participated as a panellist discussing the topic “Rethink, Reframe, Revitalize: The Power of Inter-Generational Collaboration.”

According to Olusiji, “Every generation contributes its unique and valuable skills. Ultimately, the goal is to achieve a harmonious equilibrium that fosters sustainable collaboration and not competition.”

He added, “At Standard Chartered, we believe that empowering women is not only the right thing to do –  it’s also smart economics. Our collaboration with WIMBIZ aligns with our purpose to drive commerce and prosperity through diversity and inclusion. We are proud to stand with an organisation that continues to inspire, equip, and elevate women to lead transformational change in society.”

Standard Chartered’s longstanding focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in its internal policies, community initiatives, and partnerships that promote women’s empowerment – from its Futuremakers Women in Technology Incubator Programme, which supports female-led start-ups, to its Financial Literacy Programme, which equips adolescents with the understanding of how to navigate and manage finances.

Through initiatives like these, the Bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable future – one where women have equal access to opportunity and leadership.
