The Nigerian event-technology company is using its anniversary to reposition its brand around integrated production capabilities, professional development and regional growth.

Mobile Screens and Sound Limited, known as MSS, has marked its twentieth anniversary with the unveiling of a new brand identity and plans for further expansion across Africa.

Following an anniversary celebration held earlier in October at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event brought together business leaders, government representatives, clients and industry stakeholders to reflect on the company’s development and its role in Nigeria’s event-technology industry.

MSS provides technical services for corporate, entertainment, government and cultural events, including sound, lighting, LED screens, staging and production management. The company’s anniversary campaign highlighted its evolution from an entrepreneurial venture into a provider of integrated event-production services.

A Rebrand that Reflects Business Evolution

The new brand identity is intended to communicate MSS’s broader capabilities and its ambitions for the next phase of growth.

The Managing Director, Tunbosun Kola-Daisi, described the company’s early years as a period in which some of its technology offerings were unfamiliar to the Nigerian market. He said the company had continued to invest in capabilities and expand its services as the industry developed.

For an established business, a rebrand can serve several purposes. It can clarify the company’s position in the market, reflect changes in its service offering and provide a consistent identity across an expanding portfolio. However, a new logo does not automatically change how customers perceive a business. The value of a rebrand depends on whether the visual identity is supported by the company’s actual capabilities, customer experience and commercial strategy.

For MSS, the challenge is to ensure that its new identity communicates the breadth of its services without obscuring the specialist expertise that helped build its reputation.

Expanding Beyond Individual Events

The company says its capabilities now include large-scale sound reinforcement, deploying screens across multiple events, extensive power infrastructure, nationwide advertising installations and immersive experience environments.

These services place MSS within a broader business ecosystem that includes event production, corporate communications, brand activations and live experiences. As companies increasingly use physical events to engage customers, employees and partners, technical execution becomes part of the brand experience. Poor sound, unreliable screens or inconsistent production can undermine an otherwise strong event concept. This creates an opportunity for providers that can integrate multiple production requirements and manage complex operations reliably.

Investment in Talent

The anniversary also highlighted the MSS Event Tech Academy, developed in partnership with KolaDaisi University. More than 60 students completed the inaugural ten-week programme, which covered areas including LED screen engineering, sound engineering, camera craft and video production, lighting design, event management and rigging. Five graduates reportedly secured employment with MSS after completing the programme.

The initiative addresses an important issue for specialist service businesses: the availability of trained professionals who can operate equipment safely and deliver consistent results. Technical investment must be accompanied by skills development if companies want to scale without compromising quality.

What the Next Phase Requires

MSS has identified deeper innovation, regional expansion and investment in people as priorities for its next stage. Expansion across African markets could create opportunities, but it will also require the company to understand local market conditions, build relationships with clients and partners, and maintain service standards across different locations. The company’s brand promise will ultimately be tested through execution. Customers need reliable equipment, competent technicians, strong project management and consistent delivery.

BrandiQ Analysis: MSS’s anniversary demonstrates how a Nigerian specialist company can use brand repositioning to communicate its evolution from a technical service provider into a broader experience-production business. The next challenge is to translate that positioning into sustainable growth while protecting the operational quality on which its reputation depends.

BrandiQ Takeaway: A successful rebrand should express a business’s real capabilities and strategic direction. For MSS, the opportunity lies in aligning its new identity with technical excellence, talent development and reliable execution as it pursues expansion beyond Nigeria.
