Nigeria has opened over $6 million in contracts under its World Bank-backed BRIDGE Project, signalling a critical execution phase in the country’s digital infrastructure agenda.

The initiative supports:

  • Fibre rollout advisory
  • Regulatory and legal frameworks
  • Workforce training for fibre deployment

Bigger Picture: A $600m+ Digital Backbone Play

This is part of a larger ambition:

  • 90,000km fibre network (target)
  • 125,000km national backbone by 2027
  • 70% internet penetration goal

With over $600 million in international commitments, the project represents one of the most ambitious digital infrastructure programmes in emerging markets.

Strategic Levers

  • Public-private partnerships (PPP)
  • Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) rollout model
  • Blended finance (loans + grants)

BrandiQ Take:
Nigeria is transitioning from digital ambition to infrastructure execution. The real opportunity now lies in how effectively capital, policy, and private sector participation converge.
